After breakfast, it was time to go fetch all the paraphernalia for class activities and we headed up to the classroom at the Observatory. This morning the students learnt all about sundials and were given the task of following very precise instructions in order to construct their very own. After quite some time, they had managed very well.

Lots of instructions to follow.
Amy and Serena getting started.

Elie paying close attention to the details.

Grace concentrating hard.

Boys getting their lines straight.

Tracing off the windows to see the other side.

At least there are plenty of windows around.

Elie making sure it's correct.

Roulian adding in some colour.

Mathieu finishing up.

The other side...

Amy and Emanuel's turn at the window.

Finishing touches.

Noah almost finished.

Esther very happy about her sundial!

Using a ruler on the window is pretty challenging.
Once everyone had successfully finished their sundials, it was time to go outside for a run around to stretch and play.

Our classroom at the back.

Chasing and being chased!

On guard Mr. Kaiyo!

What a magnificent view!

Tanya finding flowers for her hair.

More fun!

Mr. Kaiyo doing the chasing.

RUN!!!

It's fun outside but it's also time to head back and see how the sundials actually work, especially before the sun disappears.

Tanya's sundial - first to be tested.

Seeing how the sticks work and what direction they should face.

Fine tuning.

This was so cool!

Then for some serious learning how the real sundials work with lots of questions and answers.

Time for lunch - until later, everyone!
